SLAPSTICK AND STEPHEN FRY

We will be sharing the stage with the inimitable Stephen Fry on January 25th during the Bristol Slapstick Festival as we pay tribute to the one and only ‘Ginger Geezer’  Viv Stanshall. Mr Fry’s participation shows how widely loved & respected this comic genius was and is. Hope we can do him justice.

BOOKING NOW – SLAPSTICK & SLAUGHTER

Our DADA-inspired WW1 show has been knocking ’em dead wherever it plays; some say it’s the best thing we’ve ever done. It’s designed to work indoors and outdoors so take a look at the video for an idea of its anarchic, trouser-wrenching wonderfulness, get in touch now to find out more or go to the page for more information.

IN DEVELOPMENT

WYE VALLEY RIVER FESTIVAL

The evaluation report for the first Wye Valley River Festival concluded that ‘The arts have been spectacularly effective in communicating the key messages of the AONB’. Giving a boost of at least £400,000 to the local economy and attracting an audience of 18,500, we hope to build on the success of 2014 with further shenanigans on the Wye in 2016, this time with a global theme. Our starting point is a bottle of water collected from the source of the Ganges.

BRISTOL LOVES TIDES

Water runs under, over and around Bristol, but how many people understand how and when it ebbs, flows, floods and falls? Bristol Loves Tides will take audiences deep into the rhythm of our city’s water with an education programme using performance and film to explore water flows, tides and systems.

We’re collaborating with a group of 16-25 year olds, Rough Glory Films and partners including NOVA, HydrocitizenshipUnderfall Yard and Bristol Festival of Ideas to create a touring performance for school communities plus film screenings and site specific performances for the wider public.

DNA

This new project  has been commissioned by Bath and North East Somerset Council to create new ways for communities, and particularly families who rarely come into contact with exciting and stimulating art to engage with high quality art in all forms.

DNA is a consortium of The Desperate Men and The Natural Theatre Company, arts leaders Phillippa Haynes and Mijanou Blech and is led by the arts education company bcreative. Watch this space for news on three community arts events happening this spring in Snow Hill/London Road, Foxhill/Twerton and Radstock. including creating recipe family trees and a Valentines day baking event.

NATIVITY CYCLE

The world’s first Nativity Cycle rolled into Bristol on Monday, December 22, with Mary, Joseph and the whole crew taking to bicycles to tell the story of Christmas as never before, ending with an escape to Egypt by racing gig from the Creative Commons.  The show, produced for Bible Society, gave food for thought to people of all faiths and none.
