Desperate Men present our new outdoor animation for 2008/9 – Darwin and the Dodo – a really dead good show!
This small-scale show will look at Charles Darwin’s ideas, life, times and legacy. A comic walkabout for anywhere…
Does God play dice with the universe? Did dodos die out because we did them in? Why did Darwin spend eight years with only barnacles for company? Could all the species on earth fit in the ark? How did kangaroos get from Mount Ararat to Australia? Is the dodo’s last egg going to hatch? And who cares?
All carried off in Desperate Men’s inimitable, dynamic and engaging style, Darwin and the Dodo explores themes of evolution and extinction. Darwin and the Dodo premiered at the launch of Darwin 200 at the Natural History Museum on June 3rd.
Desperate Men bring Darwin to life in ‘Darwin and the Dodo’. Grounded in science and thorough research, ‘Darwin and the Dodo’ looks at Charles Darwin’s ideas, life, times and legacy. Darwin never saw a live Dodo, but this unlikely juxtaposition is the springboard for a tongue-in-cheek and sideways look at the ‘mystery of mysteries’. Using songs, limericks and interactive physical games, the essence of Darwin’s theories are explained and investigated. To see Darwin and the Dodo at Lyme Regis Fossil Festival please click here.
